Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Instruction
What to look for in your FAA instructor:
- Is he/she fully up-to-date with the FAA flight training and certification process?
- Is he/she full time or part time employed on FAA training?
Remember:
- Your instructor is responsible for making sure that you are prepared for the check ride.
- This means that he/she will ensure that you not only have the skills as set down in the Practical Test Standard (available free from www.faa.gov) but will check that you have the necessary evidence of flight hours, medical etc and all the numerous paperwork items that the FAA requires.
- The check ride has two parts – an oral exam and the flight test.
- The flight test will not proceed unless the oral is successful, and the oral will not proceed unless the paperwork is in order.
- Many check rides do not even get as far as the oral exam due to discrepancies in paperwork. This is entirely the fault of the instructor.
At FlyFAA:
- We shall never sign you off and refer you to the examiner unless we are sure you have everything you need to pass – all the necessary paperwork and the skills to impress him with your flying and aviation knowledge.
- Your instructor will always be on hand on check ride day to give their fullest support.
- Our responsibility to you doesn’t end until you have your temporary licence in your hand.
- We take our instructor responsibilities very seriously. We are required to keep training records for 3 years, and we are answerable for any incident during that time.
