Essential information before embarking on flight training
Before embarking on a course of training there are some administrative steps to follow to satisfy both US and UK governmental bodies.
US Regulation:
- You need to train in an American registered (N) aircraft.
- You need to set up an account with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) part of the department of Homeland Security. This is straightforward requiring registration, payment of a fee and finger-printing.
All is explained on www.flightschoolcandidates.gov
UK Regulation:
- You will need permission from the Department for Transport to train in your N registered aircraft which must be owned or part owned by you.
